Hackleton Play Area Presentation - Hackleton PC_001

Our Aim - Robyn Brookes

We are very happy to present your new play area for Hackleton Recreation Ground. Our intention has been to create an imaginative playspace that fits in with the rural village location and offers children progressive play opportunities as they grow. To achieve this, we have designed a scheme with a variety of play experiences for toddlers all the way through to teens. The equipment colours will be muted and the rubber mulch safety surfacing combines a mix of natural green, brown and beige. There will be a subtle nature theme to the equipment itself with several of the items featuring insects which children may have come across in the natural world. Your improved play area offers physical, sensory and social play value for children with a wide range of abilities. Children can participate in play experiences such as, balancing, climbing, crawling, jumping, rotating, rocking, sliding, spinning, and swinging at a level they feel comfortable with. You will also have items specifically designed for inclusive play such as, the basket swing, satellite carousel, little beetle spring rocker with back support, sensory butterfly unit and interactive play panels. Leading to the play panels and through the play equipment is a DDA compliant path allowing access for wheelchair users and pushchairs. The design divides your playground into three areas, the toddler play provision, the junior play provision and an area of open grassland. Your new toddler area will be fully resurfaced, eradicating the need to mow any grass within the fence line and therefore reducing ongoing maintenance. The equipment within the fenced toddler area will include a spinning carousel, a toddler multiplay unit, a sensory play butterfly unit, and two spring rockers. Outside of the fence line we have included two toddler swings which are separated from the junior area with a landscaped mound. On the other side of this you will find the main junior play area. The praying mantis feature play unit we have chosen gives the playground the WOW factor and a large slide offers multiple climbing opportunities of differing challenge. In addition to the main unit, we have included a zip wire, 2 junior swings, a basket swing, interactive play panels, and refurbishment of the 3 play items requested. Your new playground will be highly durable and low ongoing maintenance. To reduce this maintenance, we have grouped areas of surfacing and removed any small areas of grass dividing them, in the toddler area surfacing the whole space inside the fence. The material specification for the equipment is predominantly metal with small elements in HDPE, LDPE and HPL.

In summary, Hackleton’s new Play Area will be a unique and exciting space for the local community to enjoy. If you have any questions about the play area please do not hesitate to contact me.
