This stately tree is well known for its smooth, grey bark and lush green, corrugat- ed, elliptic foliage. Foliage turns bronze and yellow in the autumn and fruit called beech mast are produced, which are popular with a variety of wildlife, including deer and squirrels. Stella Cherry tree was the first self fertile sweet cherry and is still the top choice for garden use. Pretty white flowers are followed by large, dark red fruits that are sweet and juicy with a good classic cherry flavour. The cherries can be picked around late July.
