GRASS & GRASS MAT SURFACING Where equipment is installed directly into grass and the free height of fall is between 0.6m and 1.5m it is the responsibility of the playground operator to ensure that the grass sward is maintained in good order. Where equipment is installed with grass mat surfacing it is the responsibility of the playground operator to ensure that the grass is maintained in good order. When laid directly onto existing grass this surface will follow the natural contours of the ground. RUBBER MULCH SURFACING eibe recommend the use of a 50mm stone base when installing rubber mulch. If installed without the finished surface will be a reflection of the ground beneath it, following any undulations, & will not be a completely flat surface. Rubber mulch will not cure any existing drainage problems & will require foundations and/or some kind of drainage system prior to installation.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) sheets are extruded and co-extruded thermoplastic materials that are used worldwide in the manufacture of panels and components for the Playground, Sport, Leisure and Recreation Industries. The versatile properties of this material, including UV stability, make it resistant to fading, moisture, weather, stain and graffiti. The perfect choice for outdoor environments. HDPE is easily routed or engraved using current CNC technology, in the case of 2-colour sheet options, you can remove the outer colour and revealing the colour inside to create almost unlimited design capabilities. Increasingly used across a wide range of industries and applications, HDPE panels are being used to replace timber and composite panel components. Whilst the initial cost of these materials may be lower, the long-termmaintenance requirements and shorter life expectancy make their choice a false economy. HDPE also offered as softer, warmer and more play friendly feel to it. In addition to all the product and user benefits, HDPE is 100% recyclable

Foundations No Timber in the Ground

• eibe play equipment requires minimal maintenance. The timber can age naturally without any upkeep apart frommaintenance checks relating to moving components, nuts and bolts etc. If vandalism does occur then this can be easily addressed and remedied. For example, graffiti can be removed by sanding the wood, returning it to its natural condition without any need to re-treat the timber. Furthermore, should part of the equipment be deemed damaged beyond economical repair, due to its modular nature, eibe equipment may be easily repaired by replacing only the damaged section rather than a major section of the equipment. • eibe uses Galvanised or Stainless Steel feet, as required, for mounting our equipment onto the ground foundations and does not install timber support posts directly into the ground. With this and the CCB (Copper Chromium Boride) treatment, we have eradicated any problems or potential weaknesses in the structure of the equipment caused by rot or damp. All equipment is designed and installed to facilitate ease of access for inspection and maintenance throughout the whole of the play area • The wooden elements of the equipment will add a softness and subtlety to the play area which will not be present in an all- steel design. We believe in blending our designs into the natural environment and this is more easily achieved and aesthetically pleasing than non-organic materials.

Surfacing Rubber Bonded

Rubber Mulch - A unique process that starts with recycling solid rubber that otherwise would go to landfill; consistent control of this process provides us with a carefully blended flat shred, which is then coloured with our unique encapsulation process that not only gives us a natural looking surface, but one that is soft and flexible, long lasting and bonds perfectly. Binder - A specially developed PU binder that is designed to work in cooperation with the shred size, the colouring process, and the requirements of a strong, yet flexible bond. This mixture is then simply spread out with a trowel. As this bonded shred system is self-supporting it requires no digging of foundations and the lack of large or heavy equipment makes it cost effective for even small or difficult access areas. Moreover it will easily work directly onto almost any existing ground conditions including grass or soil, old tiles or wet pour, crushed aggregate or concrete; it will follow the natural sloping contours of the ground and / or absorb undulations and can even be spread directly over tree roots and around plants.

Grass Matting Surfacing

An environmentally friendly, non slip impact absorbing safety and foot way surface.

The Rubber Grass Mat is our most versatile product with a multitude of uses in commercial environments. Rubber Grass Mats are designed to protect the ground and grass from becoming churned up and muddy; the ring-hole form allows grass to grow back through the mat, preserving the green and fresh look of your lawn! They are extremely easy to install using our pegs and cable ties; just fix into the ground using the pegs and attach each mat using the cable ties. Our Rubber Grass Mats are manufactured to the highest quality and standards using recycled rubber. Fencing Wooden Picket Fencing

A picket fence is a traditional style of fence, made from wooden picket pales attached to a rail, with gaps left between the pales to create a demarcation fence. A picket fence is traditionally installed around play areas and gardens, and improves the appearance and security, as it provides good lines of sight. The stylish design has been popular for many years, and is the perfect option for protecting or marking out boundaries while still allowing light to pass through. Due to its versatile design, a picket fence (or palisade fence as we call it) will blend in to almost all play areas and gardens whether they are rural or urban, so it is a great option for use when protecting features. Our picket fences come in two different styles; either with pointed tops or rounded tops. They are available in traditional kit form – built on site from separate pales, rails and posts, or can be purchased as pre-constructed picket fence panels, which slide easily into slotted posts. A traditional picket fence is ideal for uneven terrains or slopes, as the individual pales can be staggered accordingly to create an even gradient.

A picket fence offers great value for money and aside from the typical uses can be used in many other scenarios.

Fabulously located along the A27 on Southampton Hill next to Titchfield Abbey in Fareham. Abbey Meadows story started back in 2018 with the council looking to install a brand-new natural style play area ranging equipment for different ages and abilities. Following a consultation, the residents and young people took part in an online game where they had the chance to pick the equipment they would like to be installed. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the work on preparing the site

area was delayed; therefore, the project began in 2021 and was opened to the public by the Mayor of Fareham Councillor, Mrs Pamela Bryant, on Wednesday 7th June 2021. This new play area has been designed with the full consideration of the history of the 16th century ‘Titchfield Abbey’ and complements the surroundings of the park’s location. eibe play is also proud to have designed and installed the council’s two other destination play areas at Holly Hill and Daedalus Common. The new Abbey Meadows play area features a range of equipment for all ages and abilities, including a multi-climbing unit themed bespoke by the designers at eibe play, which is suitable for children with reduced mobility, meaning all

children will be able to experience play and have fun together. eibe worked closely with the council to ensure the play area was functional, adventurous but still challenging and safe, which is essential for a child’s development. Alongside the junior castle play unit, eibe installed a nest swing, junior and toddler swings, rockers and a snake swing which are all situated on top of a bonded rubber mulch surface. Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: “This play area will be a huge benefit for the local community and visitors to Titchfield. It is incredibly important that children of all abilities can play together, so the large multi-climbing unit allows children with reduced mobility to come and play with their friends. “I would like to thank the residents of Titchfield and the Titchfield Village Trust who were involved in the consultation process and particularly the children from Titchfield Primary School who shared their ideas and helped us. I would also like to thank Eibe Play for coming up with this fantastic design.”.

The play panels can be used by all abilities and provide a fun play point that offers puzzle solving and discovery. Alongside these, we have included musical elements such as musical chimes and a rain wheel to add to the sensory aspect of this play zone. Alongside this are a climbing cricket and snail, another great sensory and role play element within

this play space. Around a two-minute walk from the Sensory Play Zone, you will come across Grasslands, the second play zone within the park. This fantastic play zone offers climbing for children aged five and over, with various challenging crossings and ascents onto the multiple towers. This play feature has been designed to look like natural grassland and also contains natural carved grassland features to add to the theming. This fantastic climbing unit has been installed onto a natural-looking bonded mulch surface. Take a ten-minute walk, and you will stumble across our third play zone, Wetlands. This play zone includes our

brand new Robina Play Duck. A fantastic feature that offers climbing, role play and discovery. Flanked by two play panels, this item is a must-have for any country park! The last area within the play park is our Squirrels Dray toddler zone. This play zone has been designed for children up to five years old and is an introduction to climbing and swinging, promoting essential development skills at a young age, such as balancing and upper body strength. With the added theming elements of our carved wooden squirrels on top of the posts and also the squirrel spring rockers, this offers a fantastic play offering to the younger visitors of the park. A successful installation period led us to open these play zones in time for the start of the summer

holidays in 2022, and as the first stage was so successful, the council have designed to add further items to each play zone with work to start in mid-Aug 2022.

Please note that the Guarantee period will commence following completion and contract sign-off. For guarantees to remain in effect for their duration the Customer has a responsibility to adopt a suitable maintenance regime for all aspects of the play environment (please see eibe’s recommended maintenance below). All inspection and maintenance undertaken by the Customer, or by others on the Customer’s behalf must be recorded, detailed and documented. Maintenance records will be requested when a claim against eibe’s guarantees are made. Where inspection and maintenance records cannot be produced then eibe will not be responsible for honouring the guarantees offered. On the basis that recorded inspection and maintenance documentation can be produced then eibe will uphold the guarantees offered. Misuse of any aspects of equipment or the play environment, acts of vandalism/anti-social behaviour, or general wear and tear through frequent use is not covered by the guarantees.

Spare parts are made available for the life of all eibe equipment, whether the requirement is to replace a single element or an entire unit.

With respect to the lead times associated with spare parts, these are as follows:

• 24/48hrs – For standard screws and fixings etc. • 1 Week – For elements such as swing seats, connection elements, ropes etc. • 3 Weeks – For structural posts, slides etc.

Maintenance Staff Training – One Day Workshop eibe would like to offer the Customer a free one day Maintenance Training Workshop. This will be open to all Customer Maintenance staff and those directly responsible for the running, management and up-keep of the area being developed under the contract. The Workshop will be undertaken by eibe’s Contracts Manager and performed at the site following practical completion (and on a date suitable to the Customer). The workshop will be an introduction for all staff to eibe as a company, the team and who to contact in relation to help and assistance, ordering spare parts etc. In addition, Customer staff will be shown around the area and practical demonstrations will be carried out with regards to the maintenance and suggested approach taken to successfully managing and maintaining the developed sites. A specific agenda will be drawn up in conjunction and agreement with the Customer prior to the event taking place.

Added Value Long Term customer Support and Service We would like to reinforce eibe’s commitment to working with our Customers as part of a long term relationship. eibe would like to make the following additional offers to form part of this contract at no cost: Two Year Maintenance Package Following the practical completion of the site, eibe would like to offer the Customer a Two Year maintenance package covering the site at no cost. This includes: Annual Inspection following the first 12 months from practical completion. A second Inspection will then be carried out 12 months later. Quarterly Visual Inspection to check on the equipment, surfacing and carry out minor maintenance where required. Please see eibe’s full terms and conditions related to the above. Spare Parts Where spare parts are required as a result of maintenance inspections or excessive wear eibe will supply these spare parts at no additional cost during the first two years following Customer sign-off. (Please note: This is dependent upon a suitable maintenance regime being in place and that any spares required as a result of vandalism are excluded).

Teletubby Hill Play Area - Milton PC / 55 Summary The above offers are made to further assist our Customers in areas in which they will need to consider moving forward from contract completion, such as the lifetime of the of the installation, and the long term cost of ownership associated with the regular and unforeseen maintenance etc. These offers illustrate that eibe is committed to working alongside the Customer for the life of the area to make it as much a success for the years to come as it is at the time of opening. Donation to the Official Opening Event Finally, eibe would envisage the Customer to hold an open event for the local community and all those interested following practical completion and the launch of the site. eibe would like to donate ‘goody bags’, banners, and decorations for the event in addition to offering its support and presence at the event should the Customer wish us to be involved.

Aftercare and Maintenance Maintenance

Support

eibe supplies all relevant installation and maintenance instructions for each piece of equipment . This references the information provided above and in addition, provides specific requirements for the item of equipment. Combining the installation and maintenance instructions ensures that individual parts can be clearly identified and provides an understanding of how the equipment is assembled which will assist with any maintenance requirements. Where required, eibe supply specialist tools in order to carry out the required equipment maintenance – examples of this include specific drill/screw pieces in order to tighten anti-tamper fixings. Should the Customer wish to receive installation/maintenance instructions for each piece of equipment suggested as part of this tender response, these are readily available.

eibe playground equipment is designed and manufactured with a minimummaintenance requirement. Inevitably with any play equipment, maintenance activities will be required and shall be undertaken to ensure equipment longevity and to maintain compliance with the relevant standards. The following regime is recommended for all eibe play equipment:

Quarterly Checks

We recommend that a thorough check of all play equipment and entire play areas are conducted on a quarterly basis. Checks should include the above and, in addition, should include checks to ensure that all fixings are tight using the correct tools and correcting where not. In addition, undertaking a more thorough check to identify any wear to any moving parts, ropes, or fixings, and where appropriate taking remedial action.

Annual Checks

We recommend that an annual inspection is carried out, which would include the above recommendations. In addition, eibe advises that a qualified Independent Inspector carry out an inspection and produce a report of the play area and equipment to ensure that all elements remain sound, and in line with the appropriate standards. Where potential issues are highlighted then remedial action shall be taken. Please note that the above information is based upon eibe’s experience and recommendation only. Each play area and item of play equipment is different; therefore the Customer should instigate an appropriate maintenance plan, taking into consideration this guidance to ensure that all play areas and play equipment remain available for use. Based on experience, equipment is likely to require more regular maintenance during the first three months following its installation. This is on the basis that the equipment is adapting and acclimatising to its environment, and in addition during this period the amount of usage is likely to peak. Therefore, maintenance teams should plan for this and react accordingly. Whilst all types of equipment, features and elements within a public open space are potentially at risk from damage and wear from excessive use, eibe ensures that through careful design, quality manufacturing and extensive experience in developing public play environments, our product characteristics are: All materials used are of the highest quality, and designed specifically for heavy and potential inappropriate use. All appropriately treated where possible to be fire retardant All include anti-tamper fixings All equipment is modular allowing individual components to be replaced separately All fixings and areas for maintenance are assessable and can be reached without the need to remove sections of equipment Durability

Aftercare

eibe can provide aftercare services; not just parts supply, but inspection and assistance with future maintenance. In addition to the recommendations on maintenance and the supply of documentation needed to conduct and carry this out, eibe will appoint a dedicated Play Consultant in order to assist with any questions, queries, or issues which the Customer may have following contract award and project completion. Your Play Consultant will be your main point of contact for any contract related queries. This will provide you with a single point of contact rather than numerous, ensuring clear and consistent lines of communication for all contract queries, which may include meetings, site visits, phone and email communication. The Play Consultant will be supported by our Project Manager and Project Administration team to ensure continuity of service and after care during the contract delivery stage and beyond.
