Understanding your requirements

Your Specification:

• Create a picnic area and play area suitable for children up to the age of 5 years within the space occupied by the existing play area.

• Removal and disposal of all existing play equipment, safety surfacing, benches and bins inside and outside the boundary trees, with the

exception of the seesaw, the switchback run, a single zigzag twister and the Wicksteed rocking horse. These items are to be removed by the

contractor and stored in the Parish Council compound for use by the Council at a later date.

• Signage stating location, suitability for age group, banning dogs, banning smoking and parish council contact details is required.

• Grass mats are to be used as safety surfacing wherever possible to maintain a natural feel to the area.

• Consideration should be given to areas likely to be subject to high footfall and measures implemented to reduce ground erosion and trip hazards.

• Topsoil and seed to be used as reinstatement to ground where appropriate.

• Installation of a low maintenance fence within the tree boundary on the west and east side of the play/picnic area, with self-closing access

gates in appropriate positions. In addition, a matching fence with self-closing gate should be installed running west to east between the picnic/

toddler play area and the main play area

Taverham Sandy Lane Play Area

We are pleased to present your new playground and outdoor gym for Sandy Lane Recreation Ground. The full design covers four main areas; a toddler plays and picnic area, a main play area for children aged 5-12, a zip wire, and an outdoor gym. Also included are remedial works to the basketball area, a bike/scooter rack, signage and seating throughout. The existing site is predominantly natural grass with a number of valuable trees. With this in mind we will be using a combination of natural Robinia hardwood and metal equipment in muted colours to provide an extremely durable scheme with a natural aesthetic that compliments the surroundings. The wetpour colour we have proposed for the main play area is a nature mix with flecks of green, yellow and brown to blend in with the colours of the changing seasons. Your playground has been designed to include a wide variety of play experiences and features, offering full play provision for toddlers all the way through to teenagers. The popularity of your park especially with families led us to select equipment that allows multiple users to enjoy individual items at one time and encourage social interaction between children using it. The overall design includes play features for climbing, swinging, sliding, traversing, and spinning at varying levels of challenge. The main focus has been to create an enjoyable and inclusive outdoor environment that offers all ages and capabilities the opportunity to play and be active. We create playgrounds in accordance with the ten Principles for Designing Successful Play Spaces set out in Design for Play: A Guide to Creating Successful Play Spaces (Play England 2008), which states that successful play spaces: • Are “bespoke”. • Are well located. • Make use of natural elements. • Provide a wide range of play experiences. • Are accessible to both disabled and non-disabled children. • Meet community needs. • Allow children of different ages to play together. • Build in opportunities to experience risk and challenge. • Are sustainable and appropriately maintained. • Allow for change and evolution.

Inclusive elements included a across the play areas are: • Inclusive roundabout • Basket swing • Wheelchair friendly play elements offering learning and social interactions for all • Trampoline

Our Aim - Robyn Brookes

Your Toddler Area for children up to the age of five will be a great location for young to explore play through our equipment and natural landscaping. By retaining soil dug from site we will create naturalistic play mounds with inset boulders and logs for scrambling up and over. The mounds mimic types of landscape on a small scale so children can experience nature close up within a safe setting. Amongst these mounds is a broad range of play equipment. This includes three types of toddler swing (the cradle, the me to you and the basket crib swing), a trampoline/bouncing facility, the Ranjo playframe and the feature train. Our feature Robinia Steam train is a great item for roleplay and encourages children to use their imagination and engage in social play together. It is a nod to the history of the area and is a link to the heritage disused railway line that runs close by on its route from Norwich all the way to Aylsham. The play train can accommodate lots of children at a single time as they climb, balance or sit on it. The Ranjo playframe is a great introductory experience that appeals to children as they begin their exploration of sliding, climbing and social play. The unit has three different access routes, a tunnel, a sliding board panel and interactive play balls attached to the frame. The unit assists young children of varying abilities to improve their fine and gross motor skills. Trampolines and Swings are always an incredibly popular addition to any play area and in this first area at Sandy Lane we have a round in-ground trampoline and rocking crib, both of which are classified as inclusive pieces of equipment. There is also a standard toddler swing set with cradle seat and me to you swing. The me to you swing is a specifically designed swing seat that allows eye contact between parent and child with the adult controlling the movement of the swing. Situated at the heart of the play area will be a picnic area with three picnic benches whicth are accessible to wheelchair users. Surrounded by the trees, mounds and Robinia play equipment this will feel like an idyllic spot for a family picnic while children come and go between playing. There is also a standard seat positioned just off the pathway close to the entrance of the park and the main playframe and train so adults can sit and supervise when necessary or just sit and chat. Leading on from the Toddler Play Area is the Main Junior Play Area and Cableway. We wanted to provide an exciting space for children to explore and develop their own capabilities which meant selecting a very interesting and challenging piece of equipment that offers them the opportunity to progress and engage in play as they develop. Eibe’s Isa does this in every sense and aesthetically is an impressive feature structure from afar and up- close. In addition to the main structure, we have included an integration carousel, a nest swing and a set of standard junior swings. The Isa Robinia playframe offers climbing, traversing, balancing and sliding experiences with a broad range of ascents and descents across the unit. A large number of children can play on the Isa and enjoy its varied and challenging climbing experience. We have also chosen this unit because its structure compliments the setting with the trees in the adjacent toddler area. The spread-out nature of the unit also makes it very difficult to vandalise with very few large surface area panels that attract graffiti. The openness of the unit also means there are no hidden spots/nooks for teenagers to shelter in or attempt to start fires. The unit is incredibly durable and vandal resistant.

The Integration Carousel and Nest Swing are inclusive pieces of equipment that can be used by children of different ability, including wheelchair users. They are also items that can be used by several children at a time so make play sociable and more enjoyable. The standard junior swings are a great accompanying item to the nest swing and allow for multiple children to be swinging across different pieces of equipment. Your new Cableway is constructed of Robinia hardwood and is 30m in length to provide maximum excitement. It has been positioned at the furthest point possible from the houses either side of the recreation ground to minimise impact on properties neighbouring the recreation ground. The cable way is an impressive structure; its scale makes it an appealing piece of equipment to junior children who are starting to enjoy a certain level of risk and challenge within their play experience. This item helps children test and improve their fitness and balance. They are dynamic pieces of equipment for thrill seeking juniors and are great for social interaction, often being used in pairs/groups. Finally, your Outdoor Gym Area will become a fantastic new feature for the recreation ground. The equipment we have chosen has been specifically selected so it can be used by teenagers who are improving their fitness or by the older generation who may also use if for fitness or even recovery. Several of the unit’s target improving strength while others assist with mobility and even balance. The gym area has a great variety of equipment that meets the needs of different age groups, this includes; • The TaiChi active station which is great for positively influencing mobility of the upper limbs and shoulder so is great for older users. • Calisthenics bars which are brilliant for several different uses. They can be used as part of rehabilitation where the user is able to take steps supported on either side by the bars. Alternatively, they can be used for more strenuous push ups by more enthusiastic users. • The Back Trainer which is great for strengthening muscles around the spine and when used can help stabilise and support good posture. • The sit up bench and abdominal trainer which are great for strengthening the core. The sit- up bench offering the opportunity to do this at a level with support and the abdominal trainer for those more advanced who can support themselves while working out the core. Although these pieces of equipment are metal, they will be in green and grey in colour so they look in keeping with the rest of the surroundings. Close to the gym we have located a new seat on the path so any users who require a seat to rest have somewhere they can easily reach. The Basketball Area will also be getting a full-size new metal basketball post, board and hoop with net to encourage use of this area more often. Our long-lasting play equipment can age naturally with minimal upkeep apart frommaintenance checks relating to moving components, nuts and bolts etc. If vandalism does occur then this can be easily addressed and remedied. For example, graffiti can be removed by sanding the surfaces, and returning it to its natural condition without any need to re-treat any timber.

“foster creativity, curiosity and encourage children to develop their skills”

Our Aim - Robyn Brookes

Our products are designed to withstand normal use on a day-to-day basis ensuring that their integrity is maintained without the deliberate use of external elements such as tools or other implements.

All fixings used on our equipment are anti-tamper fixings as standard. These require the use of specialist tools which are unlikely to be available to the general public.

The structures of the equipment themselves are inherently vandal resistant. The natural density and durability of the Robinia timber used ensures minimal damage by harsh environments or mistreatment.

Our nets and ropes are designed with steel reinforced cores and protective rubber components. The homogeneous core ensures high resilience against pulling out of attachments.

Furthermore, should part of the equipment be deemed damaged beyond economical repair; due to its modular nature, eibe equipment may be easily repaired by replacing only the damaged section rather than a major section of the equipment.

Overall, our design intends to meet the needs of the community and provide Taverham with huge amounts of play value and opportunity for outdoor activity. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Any discrepancy found between information shown and measurments taken from site should be reported to eibe immediatley 5. Full area measurments are to be checked before installation can proceed 6. Check foundation level requirements for each item GENERAL NOTES If not indicated on this plan, north point must be confirmed prior to installation to ensure that slides do not face due south. Exact positions & orientation of new items may be subject to a final site survey and setting out plan. Any inconsistencies on site should be verified with eibe before commencement of work. eibe recommend that existing trees are risk-assessed by the client to ensure the integrity of accessible branches, that overhanging limbs do not conflict with new play equipment or vehicle access and that the canopy will not produce excessive leaf drop which could cause a hazard within the play area. This design layout conforms to the relevant EN Safety Standard. GRASS & GRASS MAT SURFACING Where equipment is installed directly into grass and the free height of fall is between 0.6m and 1.5m it is the responsibility of the playground operator to ensure that the grass sward is maintained in good order. Where equipment is installed with grass mat surfacing it is the responsibility of the playground operator to ensure that the grass is maintained in good order. When laid directly onto existing grass this surface will follow the natural contours of the ground. RUBBER MULCH SURFACING eibe recommend the use of a 50mm stone base when installing rubber mulch. If installed without the finished surface will be a reflection of the ground beneath it, following any undulations, & will not be a completely flat surface. Rubber mulch will not cure any existing drainage problems & will require foundations and/or some kind of drainage system prior to installation.

The Borough of Dacorum is a local government district in Hertfordshire, England, that includes the towns of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring, and Kings Langley. The district, formed in 1974, had a population of 137,799 in 2001.[1] Its name was taken from the old hundred of Dacorum, which covered approximately the same area. It is the westernmost of Hertfordshire’s districts, bordered to the west by the Chiltern and Aylesbury Vale districts of Buckinghamshire. In early 2022 eibe Play was invited to tender for the refurbishment of Canal Fields Play Area, situated in the beautiful town of Berkhamsted. The previous play area had come to the end of its life, and the council wanted to create a play space that the whole town council could be proud of. Berkhamsted has a proud, rich history, so there were plenty of elements that eibe Play could tap into to add theming within our new play space. From the remains of Berkhamsted Castle, located close to the play space, The Grand Union Canal that runs right next to the play area, and the coal deliveries that used to be loaded onto the trains leaving Berkhamsted being transported across the country.

The local area’s history was essential to us when designing the new play space. We need to educate the local children about the town’s history while providing a fun-packed play space.

The play area has been designed for children between 2-12 years old, focusing on how we could also cater to children of all abilities. When creating any play space, you must include a variety of fun play values that promote risk and challenge.

Choosing items from our fantastic Paradiso Robinia range of equipment, we chose a range of play equipment that can offer various play opportunities for children of all ages. Such as our large Isa multi-play unit within a bark pit. This item blends into the surroundings and provides children with three main towers connected by challenging crossings, including a lovely green tunnel slide. This item will make the children feel like they are amongst the tree tops. Surrounding this multi-play units are a Junior Swing Frame and an Inclusive Floor Roundabout. The roundabout allows children of all abilities, including wheelchairs, to play together, and as it has been installed onto an artificial surface, it can be accessed all year round. Opposite the Play Unit Isa, we have included a large sand pit, which will add enormous play value to an already packed play area. The sand pit includes construction chains and buckets, whilst the local children will have great fun finding the dinosaur fossils. Further along from the sand pit, we have included our toddler play unit, which offers a variety of play values such as climbing and sliding, promoting critical development skills for children of a young age. Our Coal Train and tunnel is located next to it, designed to resemble the trains leaving Berkhamsted Station, transporting coal across the country.

Another fantastic point of this play space is that all the play equipment can be accessed via an all-weather path leading throughout the play space. This is an excellent addition as it allows access to all the play equipment all year round.

In the middle of the play space is our Play Mound, with sleeping theming to resemble the remains of Berkhamsted Castle. Kids will have great fun climbing the castle remains to the Stainless Steel Broad Slide, which provides a fun route back down again.

Around the mound, we have refurbished several existing play items, giving them a new lease of life. Our Climbing Tree Ema, Duck Spring Rockers, and Four Seater Seesaw are added. All of which will be a great hit with the children using the park and the local community. eibe Play opened the play area in early August 2022, opening it up to be used and loved by the children eagerly waiting patiently outside. We are very proud of this play space and look forward to working alongside Dacorum Borough Council to ensure this play space remains a hit for years to come.

The play panels can be used by all abilities and provide a fun play point that offers puzzle solving and discovery. Alongside these, we have included musical elements such as musical chimes and a rain wheel to add to the sensory aspect of this play zone. Alongside this are a climbing cricket and snail, another great sensory and role play element within

this play space. Around a two-minute walk from the Sensory Play Zone, you will come across Grasslands, the second play zone within the park. This fantastic play zone offers climbing for children aged five and over, with various challenging crossings and ascents onto the multiple towers. This play feature has been designed to look like natural grassland and also contains natural carved grassland features to add to the theming. This fantastic climbing unit has been installed onto a natural-looking bonded mulch surface. Take a ten-minute walk, and you will stumble across our third play zone, Wetlands. This play zone includes our

brand new Robina Play Duck. A fantastic feature that offers climbing, role play and discovery. Flanked by two play panels, this item is a must-have for any country park! The last area within the play park is our Squirrels Dray toddler zone. This play zone has been designed for children up to five years old and is an introduction to climbing and swinging, promoting essential development skills at a young age, such as balancing and upper body strength. With the added theming elements of our carved wooden squirrels on top of the posts and also the squirrel spring rockers, this offers a fantastic play offering to the younger visitors of the park. A successful installation period led us to open these play zones in time for the start of the summer Sandy Lane Recreation Ground - Taverham Parish Council / 62

holidays in 2022, and as the first stage was so successful, the council have designed to add further items to each play zone with work to start in mid-Aug 2022.

Destination Parc Bryn Bach, Tall Towers, slides and nature themed fun

eibe play was contracted in 2019 to design and install a large adventure playground to enhance the visitor experience at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar. Opened in 2020, the play area is now the most popular attraction at the 340 acre country park, with a capacity of over 150+ children. Based around a central Treetop Village, eibe designed a bespoke

play area combining play equipment from our unique and ecorino ranges to create a range of 60+ play experiences for children aged 1-14, allowing children of different ages to play together. A key element was inclusivity, allowing children with disabilities to engage with other children and lots of opportunities for children to explore risks and challenges in a safe environment. eibe introduced a nature theme to the safety surface and numerous play panels around the play area. The design also allowed for change and evolution. The site features huge bespoke towers connected with a 4m long rope bridge. Both towers have multiple ascents and whilst inside the towers tactile sensory play surrounds you on every level. Once you have made it to the top of the larger tower an enournous tube slide awates you, to take you back to the ground.

There are various details that you would only find at this site such as the increadible wetpour graphics, the spiders web, swan pond the mushroommaze, and the river that spans the complete playground. Multiple swing, double cableway, two major junior units along with a toddler zone featuring swings, units, playhouses and the all famous standup seesaw, really make this a must park to visit.

The site is a real stand out attraction and now draws in a cround frommiles around.

Parc Bryn Bach adventure playground has been an outstanding success, and eibe play Ltd is proud to have worked with to have worked on this project in partnership with Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and Aneurin Leisure

HDPE

High Density Polyethylene

HDPE

• UV stabilized for fade resistant outdoor use • Will not rot, delaminate, splinter or crack • Stain and graffiti resistant for easy cleaning

• Durable orange peel textured finish • Moisture and chemical resistant • High impact resistant • 100% recyclable and non toxic • Easily machined and engraved • No heavy metals • No phthalates

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) sheets are extruded and co-extruded thermoplastic materials that are used worldwide in the manufacture of panels and components for the Playground, Sport, Leisure and Recreation Industries. The versatile properties of this material, including UV stability, make it resistant to fading, moisture, weather, stain and graffiti. The perfect choice for outdoor environments. HDPE is easily routed or engraved using current CNC technology, in the case of 2-colour sheet options, you can remove the outer colour and revealing the colour inside to create almost unlimited design capabilities. Increasingly used across a wide range of industries and applications, HDPE panels are being used to replace timber and composite panel components. Whilst the initial cost of these materials may be lower, the long-termmaintenance requirements and shorter life expectancy make their choice a false economy. HDPE also offered as softer, warmer and more play friendly feel to it. In addition to all the product and user benefits, HDPE is 100% recyclable
